I love kitchen gadgets. My baking odyssey began when my husband gave me a bread machine for Christmas one year, so I blame him. :) Baking bread is my hobby. I'll admit I am a bit nerdy about it, and Alton Brown* is my hero (even though I started on this path before he started his show). My friend had me bake bread and rolls for her wedding reception.  Thank goodness you can freeze dough, thaw it overnight, and bake in the morning; my kitchen looked like a bakery!  My kids love to rip apart and devour a warm, braided Challah loaf. I also bake a mean cookie, and get lots of requests for those, too. 

Baking bread also means researching all kinds of grains, trying out sour dough cultures, doing experiments with leaveners, and buying gadgets like grain mills and flakers.

My other hobbies are designing house plans (just for my own house), playing with CAD and real-time modelling programs, tweaking stuff to death, as proven by my monitor calibration page, playing with the kids, and playing MMORPG's.

*Oh my! I just found Alton Brown in the wikipedia, and it mentions he has a pet iguana! I have had a number of pet lizards, when I was a kid, including iguanas, chamelions, a "water dragon", and a "black mountain hornet". The hornet was my favorite, though.
